What Is Cav-Bal®?

Cav-Bal®PRO is proprietary cavity balance software developed by Moulding Optimisation Ltd for correcting hot runner cavity imbalance in multi-cavity injection moulds. It is used during mould qualification, process validation, and troubleshooting to establish uniform cavity filling and stable production conditions.

What Cav-Bal® Does

Cav-Bal® analyses short-shot cavity weight data and calculates:

  • Required hot runner tip temperature corrections

  • Cavity-to-cavity imbalance percentage

  • The optimum ΔT for the balanced tip profile

Cav-Bal® can achieve a measurable <1% cavity imbalance on your hot runner moulds; results are limited only by the resolution of the hot runner controller.

The Engineering Philosophy Behind Cav-Bal®

Cav-Bal® was developed from real-world injection moulding experience to reduce the time it takes to balance cavities on multi cavity hot runner moulds.

It does not replace scientific injection moulding although data collection is identical to the traditional Cavity Balance Study. It takes that data and gives the Engineer the exact hot runner tip settings to use, enabling the best possible imbalance, with the best possible ΔT, in the shortest possible time.
